1 Peter: Chapter 3
Beloved:Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts.Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence, keeping your conscience clear,so that, when you are maligned, those who defame your good conduct in Christ may themselves be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good,if that be the will of God, than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the sake of the unrighteous, that he might lead you to God.Put to death in the flesh,he was brought to life in the Spirit.
You know what passage sticks out to me in this – For it is better to suffer for doing good,if that be the will of God, than for doing evil. When I read those words, I think about the times that I have done the right things and still suffered. Why? Because even though i am doing right, God has something else in mind for me. The suffering is part of the whole journey. And maybe in my mind, I am doing right but in God’s mind, I am not.
So, what do you do when this happens? You keep doing what is right. Keep on the righteous path. Listen for God’s will in your life but don’t stray down the wrong path. It is so easy to just say ” the hell with it” and do the easier evil things. But, God has better plans for you.
So, keep being a good-doer knowing that God sees it all and you will be rewarded at the right time.
