This is a song that we sing every Sunday at Mass before the readings are presented and as our young children are sent to the Children’s Liturgy session. At that session, the readings of that day are presented in easier language and the kids discuss the lessons to be learned. The children get a handout and usually a holy card as well.
Last week, I stopped and really thought about those words – why do we sing them?
We are all blessed to be able to hear God’s Word and to incorporate what He is telling us into our daily lives. We need to be open to receiving His Word at all times, not only on Sundays but every day. And God’s word is not only in the Bible but in the people we meet along the way.
Once we hear the words, we need to receive it and believe it. We need to really accept the teachings and the goodness of God’s voice and believe in Him. We need to listen to others that God has put in our lives and thank God for these gifts.
Once we receive and believe, we need to become what God wants us to be. We all were created for a purpose that only God knows. If we truly receive His Word, believe in Him and become what He wants us to be, God will be pleased.
Hear His Word, receive His Word and believe in Him! You shall be blessed beyond all imagination!!
